In this fast-paced class, students will learn to make chunky soldered chains out of copper. Everyone will leave class with at least one necklace or bracelet plus the skills to make more at home. Learn the basics of torch soldering, cutting, filing, hammering, assembling and finishing copper chains. We will also learn to use the tumbler for hardening and polishing our chains. Accessible materials and a simple process will make for sure-fire success!
Students should bring: Basic jewelry tools including round nose pliers, flat nose pliers and flush cutters if you have them.
Teacher will provide all supplies and tools including: torch, butane, copper parts, lead free flux and solder, files, shears, hammers, anvils, flux brushes, baking soda, water cups, tumbler and sandpaper.
Note: *All measures will be taken to create adequate ventilation as much as possible. If you have extreme sensitivities to soldering products or smelly stuff, consider this carefully before registering.
